General Responsibilities:

  • Seek out and report on new project leads.
  • Foster relationships with existing customers and build new relationships.
  • Assist in gathering data from bid tabulations and other market sources.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits.
  • Solicit and consult with suppliers and subcontractors during the bidding process. 
  • Calculate quantity takeoffs.
  • Review project bid documents, plans, specs, etc to gain an understanding of project bids.
  • Distribute addenda and supplemental bid documents to vendors and subcontractors.
  • Assemble and review historical cost data for similar bids.
  • Prepare, review, and present cost estimates for the preparation of bids.
  • Assist in preparing budget from estimate with Estimating team. 
  • Assist with post bid handoff and closeouts.
  • Attending post job meetings and review job costs. 
  • Additional assignments as needed from the chief estimator.

What We Are Looking For:

  • High attention to detail.
  • Previous experience as a construction estimator.
  • Ability to read and understand various type of construction documents. 
  • Skilled in the use of HCSS Heavybid or similar estimating software.
  • Knowledgeable in Bluebeam and other take off softwares
  • Knowledgeable in data driven decision making. 
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Effective and consistent communication.
  • General understanding of basic accounting.
  • General understanding of project management. 
  • Driven, committed, trustworthy, and have a strong belief in teamwork.
  • A degree in engineering, construction management, or similar.

Requirements

  • 5 years construction experience is preferred.
  • 2 plus years construction estimating experience is preferred.
  • Work in-office at our Bridgeport location.
  • Effectively complete tasks on or before given deadlines.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines and work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of various construction materials, methods and techniques as related to Heavy Civil construction projects.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office suite of products.
  • Driven, committed, trustworthy, and have a strong belief in teamwork.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to attend events and meetings.
